FROSTBURG- William “Bill” Joseph Clise, 76, of Frostburg passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018.
Born on Red Hill, he was the son of the late William G. Clise and Mary (Smith) Clise.
Bill was a member of the LaVale Baptist Church and also served as Trustee. Bill was a 50 year member of Carpenter’s Local #1024; he joined Carl Belt, Inc. in 1972 and retired in March 2004 as a Project Superintendent. While employed at The Belt Construction Group, Bill supervised construction projects at Allegany College of Maryland including the Science Building, the College Center Renovation, the ACM Library and Renovations of the Continuing Education Building; major renovations of Mt. Savage School
for the Board of Education of Allegany County; various projects for the Western Maryland Health System at the Sacred Heart campus including the Annex Expansion/4-story Diagnostic Outpatient Center, ICU Renovations, Physician Office build-outs, the SHH cafeteria and the Renovation and55 Bed Addition at St. Vincent DePaul Nursing Center as well as various other projects in the surrounding area. Bill was also a member of the Piney Mountain Sportsman Club, and the NRA.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, JoAnn (Williams) Clise, his son William J. Clise and wife Kyler of Frostburg; grandchildren, Allison Clise, William Hunter Clise, and Levi Clise, and his brother Wayne R. Clise of Raleigh, NC.
Bill was an avid hunter whose favor spot was Spruce Hollow on Dan’s Mountain. He loved working in his yard, watching old westerns, and the outdoors. Bill’s pride and joy were his grandchildren, and he proudly went by the name Poppy. On Saturday mornings if he was not in his tree stand, he could be found watching his grandsons play football for the Frostburg Cougars and the Mini Miners. Bill was also his granddaughter’s biggest fan as she danced and performed on stage.
Family and friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Monday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the LaVale Baptist Church, 1115 National Hwy, LaVale, MD on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jim Jeffries officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
