Shirley Lemmert

FROSTBURG- Shirley Iris Lemmert, 92, of Frostburg passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Sterling Care at Frostburg Village. Born June 6, 1927 in Locust Grove, Cumberland she was the daughter of the late Ernie Doman and Edna (Brock) Doman. She is preceded in death by her husband James Arthur Lemmert, and three siblings. Shirley was born and raised in Locust Grove, Cumberland. She graduated from Allegany High School in 1945 and married James Lemmert in 1947. Shirley was a 60 plus member of Frostburg United Methodist Church. She loved working for Whitey Folk waiting tables at the Maplehurst Country Club in the late 70’s and early 80’s. Upon her husband’s bout with Alzheimer’s, she volunteered her services for the next 22 years in the laundry at the Frostburg Village Nursing Home. Shirley loved Christmas time, decorating the house, buying gifts for the family and spending time together. She is survived by her children, James Lemmert and partner Lynn; Diane Lemmert Patterson and husband Denny; Bruce Lemmert and wife Inez; Doug Lemmert and wife Robin; and Rick Lemmert and wife Terri; grandchildren, Cindy Lemmert, Jill Patterson Sibley, Amy Patterson, Ernie Lemmert, Coy Lemmert, Katy Lemmert, Tyler Lemmert, Chris Lemmert, Zack Lemmert, Katlin Lemmert, , and Brady Lemmert. Also, many great grandchildren, and a sister Lee Callahan. Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Sunday, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, October 21, 2019 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Kyle Durbin officiating. Interment will be in Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap. Pallbearers will be the grandsons, Ernie, Coy, Tyler, Chris, Zack, and Brady. Special thanks to Jill Sibley, who over the last several years has gone to great lengths to take care of “Nana.”
