FROSTBURG-Sharon Lynn (Gardner) Rice,78, of Frostburg passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Frostburg on January 27, 1938 she was the daughter of the late Walter Gardner and Helen A. (Burt) Gardner. She is also preceded in death by her husband Ronald Rice who passed away on July 30, 2016 and her brother James Gardner.
Sharon was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Frostburg. Sharon had worked at Acme Marker as a meat cutter, Westons Market, United Family Services and Fox’s Pizza Den.
She is survived by her daughters Dana Shipe and husband Dennis of Frostburg; and Ronda Layton and husband Chris of Salisbury, PA. She is also survived by grandchildren, Kevin Shipe and wife Jenny, Justin Shipe and wife Bevy, Heather(Shipe) Felker and husband Cody, Rachel Shipe and friend James Halcomb, Briana Layton and fiancée, Tyler Butler, and Kendra Layton; great -grandchildren, Kailey Yutzy, Jacob Shipe, Bryson Felker, Chloee and Sophie Butler, and Miss Ella Shipe due to arrive in March. Also, surviving is her sister Kay Carder and husband Melvin of Mt. Savage and her sister-in-law Bev Gardner of Frostburg.
Family and friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Laurel Underwood officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Shipe, Justin Shipe, Cody Felker, James Halcomb, Tyler Butler, and Eric Bowman.
