FROSTBURG- Roy John DeVault, 97, of Frostburg died on Friday, September 8, 2017 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center
Roy was born in Lonaconing to the late Bessie (DeVault) Ruby and John Crichton. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Beatrice (Fatkin) DeVault, step-father Ford Ruby, daughter Katie Fay Miller, son, Kenneth DeVault, brothers, Kenneth DeVault, and Marshall Ruby.
Roy had worked at the Kelly Springfield Tire Company and he was a member of the Carlos United Methodist Church and the American Legion Farrady Post 24. Roy served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife Martha Hott Leatherman DeVault, son, John Roy DeVault of Carlos, daughter in law Norma DeVault, step children, Norman Leatherman and wife Dorothy of Keyser; Harold Leatherman and wife Cecelia of Barton; Nancy Jane Leatherman of Barton; Barbara Jean Kennedy of Hagerstown; grandchildren, Dianna Lynn McMeins and husband William, Kenneth “Kip” DeVault and wife Tina, step-grandchildren, William Weslow and wife Cindy, and Cheri Llewellyn. Also, surviving are great-grandchildren, Taylor McMeins, Alexis DeVault, and Alyssa DeVault, brother, Gerald Ruby of Las Vegas; sister, Leona Woods of Baltimore; and sister in law Shirley Ruby of Carlos.
Family and friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Sunday, from 3-6 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold and the Rev. Everett Spence officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Farrady Post 24 at the graveside.
