FROSTBURG- Ronald “Doc” J. Nicol,88, of Plano Texas formerly of Frostburg passed away peacefully Sunday, February 14, 2016 at the Prestonwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Home.
Born December 13, 1927 in Lonaconing, he was the son of the late Ronald T. Nicol and Jane (Smith) Nicol. He is preceded in death by his wife LaVern E. (Rank) Nicol and two sisters, Betty Lou Debrinsky and Margaret McKinley.
Doc was employed at the Potomac Farms Diary. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Frostburg, a Past Master of Mountain Lodge 99 A.F. & A.M. He was awarded the Fifty-year Masonic Service Emblem in 2014. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by two sons; Ronald L. Nicol, of Frisco, Texas and Wayne L. "Nick"Nicol of Wimauma, Florida; two daughter-in-laws, Liane (Spain) Nicol and Alana (Brodie) Nicol; three grandchildren, Adam Nicol and wife Kathy, Kimberly (Nicol) Hamerman and Katie Nicol; three great grandchildren; Codi Nicol, Atticus Nicol and Conrad Hamerman; one brother, William Quail Nicol; sisters, Joyce Summers and Gloria Jean Minnick.
The family will receive friends at Sowers Funeral Home (www.sowersfh.com) on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Mountain Lodge 99 A.F. & A.M. will have a memorial service at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ken Hamilton officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
