Ronald G. Laber

November 6, 1940 — January 31, 2025

Frostburg

Ronald G. Laber of Frostburg went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 31, 2025.

Born on November 6, 1940, at home in Frostburg, he was the son of Marie (Laber) Lewis and grandson of Annie Laber. In addition to his mother and grandmother he was preceded in death by his daughter Helen Tarbox, granddaughters, Angela Acosta and Shandi Tarbox and brother, Butch Lewis as well as brother-in-law, James Sevinsky.

He was a1958 graduate of Beall High School and later enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. When he returned back to the area after leaving the Air Force he began his lifelong career at Kelly Springfield Tires. He started in the accounting department and then went to college to obtain his degree in computer programming.

Ron was active in the Frostburg community the majority of his life in various roles. He served as past commander of the Frostburg American Legion, President of Frostburg Eagles, active member of the Frostburg Moose and after retiring from the Kelly Springfield he took on the role of finance officer for the Frostburg American Legion.

When his children were young you could find him coaching various sports, including girls’ softball and church legion basketball. As he got older and retired, he could be found any where in Frostburg going for his long walks and when his health would no longer allow his “long” walks he could be found sitting on his front porch on nice days waving to all.

Ron was most proud of his grandchildren and never missed a basketball, softball, football, volleyball or hockey game, he also took many train rides and attended train exhibits as well. He encouraged all his children and grandchildren to be the best they could be, and nothing was unattainable with hard work and dedication.

Ron was a member of the LaVale Baptist Church and strong in his faith and belief in God, always acknowledging that Jesus Christ was his Lord and Savior.

Surviving is his wife of 34 years, Anna (Sevinsky) Laber, son Jamie Laber, daughter Lorie Cutter (Chad), Anna Laber, Heather Tringler (Tony), grandchildren, Matthew Laber-Kamp (Tami), Jason Laber (Kasey), Trevor Laber, Lucas Laber, Ava Tringler, Allison Tringler and great grandsons, James and Elijah Laber.
