Michael "Mike" W. Kucharczyk

Michael “Mike” W. Kucharczyk, 62, of Frostburg, MD passed away peacefully on Monday, January 27, 2025. Born August 21, 1962, Mike was the son of the late Milton and Theresa (Twigg) Kucharczyk. 

Mike was a 1981 graduate of the Career Center and Beall High School. He loved his work as a master plumber, especially with his longest employer, Service Unlimited. Mike served his community as a lifelong member of 41 years of Frostburg Fire Dept, where he held various offices and also as Chief for a period of time. Mike was a giving, selfless person who lived his life by giving to others and helping anyone he could. He would end many conversations with “The door is always open”.

Mike is survived by his siblings, Milton Kucharczyk and wife, Tonya; James Kucharczyk and wife, Brenda; Mary Boner and husband, Timothy; Joseph Kucharczyk; and Anastasia Johnson. He is also loved by his nieces, Christa Martin and Sydney Rollins, nephews, James Kucharczyk, Jr and Steven Rollins, his numerous cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He leaves behind countless friends, especially Wayne Couter, Jr, Brenda Dugan, Annette Mulligan, Phillip Via, and Harry Foor. Mike’s truest friend and support, his rescue pup Teacup, also survives and misses him dearly. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025, 9am to 11am at Sowers Funeral Home, 60 West Main St, Frostburg, MD. The Frostburg Fire Department will hold a memorial service at 10:30 am. Services will be held immediately after the visitation at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Wayne Couter, Jr., James Kucharczyk, Jr., Steven Rollins, Sydney Rollins, Doug Rafferty, Chris Martin, Marsh (Pete) Smith and Phillip Via.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the medical providers, ambulance personnel, and nursing home staff at Mountain City Rehab Center for their care for Mike over the past few weeks.
