Mary Ryan

Frostburg- Mary Lou (Rase) Ryan, 78, of Eckhart passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at the Frostburg Village Nursing Home. Born April 23, 1938 in Eckhart she was the daughter or the late Gilbert Rase and Catherine (Carter) Rase. She is preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” Ryan, a sister Jeanie Walsh and a brother Tom Rase. Mary Lou had worked at various retail stores including: G.C. Murphy’s, Grants, Kings, Dollar General and Super Shoes. She was a member of the Eckhart Methodist Church. During her life time, Mary Lou enjoyed bowling and playing shuffleboard in the Frostburg Shuffleboard League for the Clarysville Fire Company team. She also enjoyed spending time with family and loved playing cards, dice, and aggravation. She also spent a great deal of time with her grandson while he was growing up, as well as with her great grandchildren in her later years. She is survived by her son Steven and wife Julie of Eckhart, her grandson Zachary Ryan and wife Tiffany of Eckhart; her great grandchildren Fiona and Gavin Ryan of Eckhart; her brothers Richard Rase and wife Althea of Hagerstown, Robert Rase and wife Linda of Frostburg; her sisters Suzie Blough of Cresaptown; Kay Warden of Cresaptown; Lois Ann Troutman and husband John of Eckhart; Linda Davis and husband John of LaVale. Also surviving are Mildred Knepp, Eckhart; Phyllis Pape, Eckhart; Rich Ryan and wife Kay, Eckhart, Charlie Ryan and wife Sandy, Eckhart; and Gin Sween and husband Gary, Eckhart. Mary Lou had many beloved nieces and nephews too many to mention. A very special thank you to the staff at the Frostburg Village Nursing Home for offering their time and care for Mary Lou during her stay at their facility. Their genuine love for Mary Lou was obvious by many staff at the center and was deeply appreciated by her family members. Family and Friends will be conducted at Sowers Funeral Home on Sunday, February 12 from 3 to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Monday February 13th at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. George M. Harpold officiating. Pallbearers: Randy Rase, Brian Hendrickson, Jeff Warden, Michael Troutman, Rick Scarpelli, and Justin Tippen. Honorary pallbearers: Ray Rase and Matt Troutman. Interment will be in the Eckhart Cemetery.
