RIDGELEY- Lila M. VanMeter,77, of Ridgeley went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. She was born January 6, 1940 in Cumberland. She was the daughter of the late William Poling and Rose (Dawson) Poling Albright. Lila is preceded in death by a daughter Carla Folk, and two grandchildren Megan and Jacob Denninson, and a number of brothers and sisters. Lila had worked at the Berkowitz Sewing Factory. She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Ridgeley. She was also a member of the Ridgeley V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, Ridgeley American Legion Auxiliary, and the Mountainside Marines Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband Robert VanMeter, her daughters, Debra Bolden and husband David of Frostburg, Tammy McKenzie and spouse Jane of LaVale; Robin Anderson and husband Leslie of Grantsville; and Tammy Dennison and husband Steve of Ohio; Susie (Weimer) McKenzie of Mt. Savage; her grandchildren, Kevin McKenzie and wife Stephanie, Rhiannon Bolden and fiancée Ronald, Jason Anderson, Christy Thomas and husband James, Katie Willis and husband Austin, Jacob Anderson, and Patricia Ketterman, and Curtis Ketterman III, her great-grandchildren, Haley McKenzie, Austin McKenzie, Santanna Puller, Reth Puller, and Nathan Thomas. Also, surviving sisters Hazel Ketterman and husband Curtis of Frostburg; Ruth Peer and husband Robert of Short Gap; Lucy Magner of West Virginia, and Patricia Lester of West Virginia. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews whom she loved. Family and friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Jewell officiating. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Kevin McKenzie, Austin Willis, Ronald Puller, Austin McKenzie, Leslie Anderson, and Keith McKenzie. In lieu of flower, donations may be directed to the Leukemia Foundation. The family would like to thank all of Lila’s caregivers especially those on 5 South and 7 South at the hospital and the caregivers at the WMHS Frostburg Nursing and Rehab Center. Also, the family want to give a special thanks to Dr. Ayhz.
