John Stark

ECKHART- John L. Stark,88, of Eckhart passed away on Monday, December 25, 2017 at the Frostburg Village Nursing Center. Born in Eckhart John was the son of the late Henry M. Stark and Clara (Snyder) Stark. He is preceded in death by his wife Marquise (Bess) Stark, grandson, Staff Sergeant David M. Stark, Jr., and sisters Mildred Pryor and Laura Jean Saathoff. Mr. Stark served his country in the U.S. Army. He served as Staff Sergeant in the 47 Division 145th Infantry, Camp Rucker Alabama 1951-1953, Maryland National Guard 1956-1961. He had worked at the A & P grocery stores in Frostburg and Cumberland for 30 years. He was a member of Eckhart United Methodist Church, American Legion Farrady Post 24, National Rifle Association, DAV of Cumberland, and the United Food and Commercial Workers Union. He is survived by three sons, David Stark and wife Lisa of Eckhart; Jonathan C. Stark of Eckhart; Jay A. Stark of Eckhart; a daughter, Margaret Pleacher and her husband John Pleacher, III, of Neelyton, PA; grandchildren, John Pleacher, IV and his wife Karen, Stacey Householder and her husband Jason, great-grandchildren, John Pleacher, V, Morrigan Pleacher, Jaden Stark, Madyson Stark, Carson Stark, Jaycob Householder, Jason Householder, Jr., and Chloe Householder. Family and friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-5 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 11 a.m. with the Rev.
