FROSTBURG- James L. “Jim” Crowe, Jr. 82, of Frostburg died on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at home. Born in Frostburg on September 24, 1933 he was the son of the late James L. Crowe, Sr. and Ann (Creegan) Crowe. Jim is preceded in death by his son, Jerry Winner, sisters, Betty Homer and LeAnn Patterson, and brother, Ray Crowe and wife Mary. Jim attended St. Michael’s School and was a graduate of LaSalle High Scholl Class of 1951 and graduated from the University of Montana. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He had worked in the Treasury Department with the Federal Government. Jim was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Past President of the LaVale Lions Club, Past Exalted Ruler of the Frostburg Elks 470, a member of the Frostburg K of C, Frostburg Moose, The Frostburg American Legion Farrady Post 24, and the Maplehurst Country Club. Jim was an avid golfer and he loved to bowl. He loved his sports teams and was an avid fan for the Baltimore Ravens, Notre Dame, Fighting Irish, and the New York Yankees. He is survived by his wife Carolyn J. (Baker) Crowe, a son Michael Crowe of Arizona; daughters, Colleen Holland of Arizona; Lee Ann Wagtor of Florida, and Melanie Gray and husband, Rick of Frostburg. Also, surviving are six grandchildren including, Zachary, Bradley, and Ashley Winner, three great-grandchildren, and special great- granddaughter, Macie. and his lifetime best friend, Jack McMullen. Jim was the last surviving member of his immediate family. The family would like to thank Deacon Harold Bradley for all his support. Family and friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Friday from 2 – 6 p.m. LaVale Lions Club Will hold a Memorial Service Friday at 5:45 p.m and the Frostburg Elks 470 will have their Memorial Service following the Lions Club. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 9 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Father Ed Hendricks as celebrant. Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Elwood Glass, Jerry Chambers, Roger Robinette, Terry Hostetler, John Warnick, and Harold Burgess. American Legion Farrady Post 24 will accord military honors at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael’s Catholic Church or the LaVale Lions Club.
