Helen Martin

FROSTBURG- Helen (Turner) Martin, 80 , of Frostburg passed away on Sunday, January 31 , 2016 at her home. Born in Frostburg, Helen was the daughter of the late Charles Weaver Turner and Margaret (Pyle) Turner. She is preceded in death by her husband John Martin, Sr., sister Betty Garlitz and brother in law Arvil Garlitz, Sadie Turner, brother Charles Turner, and son Daniel Rafferty. She was the last surviving member of her family. Helen had worked at Kings Department Store. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies of the Frostburg Moose. She is survived by her sons James Rafferty and wife Lyssa of California, Larry D. Rafferty of Baltimore, daughters Robin Rafferty and husband William Martz of Ridgeley; grandchildren, Gemini Strawderman and fiancée Steven Bolcari, Brooke LaRue, Terrin Reinhart and fiancée Casey Williams, Richard Reinhart, Chris Rafferty, Jeremy Rafferty and wife Betsy, Scott Rafferty, Daniel Rafferty, Jr., Sarah Snoberger and husband Shaun, and Beth Rafferty. Also surviving are 21 great-grandchildren. Family and friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Monday from 6 to 8 and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jennifer Webber officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
