On October 28th, 2024 Harry Dale Landis Sr., 95 of Eckhart, MD, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
For those who knew HD Sr., or some knew him as Pap or Pappy, others called him Dale, he was a true communicator. Telemarketers would hang up on him. He thrived on connecting with people, though, especially at the casino, where he transformed into a vibrant 21-year-old. What cane?!
His Sheetz trips brought joy, and employees recognized his truck, treating him like VIP with scratch-off tickets and coffee.
Family meant everything to Pap, he adored his grandchildren deeply. His truck's candy tin was legendary, stocked with Snickers, Werther's Originals, and 100 Grand bars. He took great joy in spoiling all of his loved ones. He was always present, along with a big smile and a thumbs up.
Dale was born in Bedford, PA on August 24, 1929. He is the last remaining member of his immediate family.
Dale retired from Western MD railroad after 42 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion.
He is preceded in death by wife Miriam Katherine Landis (Dilley), daughter Katrina Landis, brother William Landis, sister Mary Jane Coughlin, granddaughter Tia Wilhelm, daughter Marcia Landis, and grandson Jacob Landis.
He is survived by son Kenneth (Shelley), son Harry Jr. (Gretchen), son Dennis. Grandchildren Kimberly, Koreen (Dave), Kenneth Jr, Seth (Melanie), Abby. Numerous great grandchildren & many loved ones. And of course, his beloved dog, Daisy Mae.
