Monday, February 1, 2016. She was a patient at the Frostburg Village Nursing Home. Born on November MIDLAND- Elizabeth "Libby" (Beechie) Cook, of Midland, Maryland passed away on 8, 1918, in Vale Summit, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (O'Grince) Beechie. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald "Frosty" Cook and her son, Donald Cook, Jr., as well as her siblings, William, Johnny, Rudolph, Carl, Olga and Mary. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. A 1936 graduate of Beall High School, Libby worked at Prichard's Store in Frostburg, and during World War II was employed at the Celanese. Following the birth of her son, she was a homemaker. She was a lifelong member of St. Michael's Catholic, Frostburg. Libby was a great supporter to her husband, Frosty, as he entertained seniors and other groups, served as a seamstress for his costumes and a typist for his poems. She and Frosty lived their faith and touched the lives of many with prayers, encouragement, example and helping hands. Surviving are her sister-in-law, Flora (Paul) Lease, and a brother-in-law, Gerald Cook, as well as nieces and nephews, Paul Lease, Reba Lease Burket, Gerald Cook, Janet Lucas, Frances(Jack) Malloy, Anna Marie Fujik, Jack Barry, Joe Barry, Jack Beechie, Mary Frances (Jim) Schmidt, John Beechie, Bill (Linda) Beechie, Mary Jane (Charles) Bonser, and Patty Beechie. Additionally by Linda Reese, and a special friend and former Midland neighbor Charlotte Durst Cornerlius. Also Chaise Crossland whom Frosty and Libby considered their granddaughter. A special thank you to the Deacons and Priests of St. Michael's Church, and the Pastor and members of Midland Methodist Church who visited and prayed with Libby. Also, a very special thank you to the kindness and care extended to her by the nurses and staff of Frostburg Village Nursing Home. Friends will be received at St. Michael's Church on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00a.m. with Father Eric Gauchat as celebrant. Interment will be at the Frostburg Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Ed Crossland, Edward Crossland, Laurence Crossland, William Beechie and Larry Thuss. Expressions of sympathy may be expresses in memorials to St. Michael's Catholic Church in lieu of flowers.
