Eleanor Rafferty

MT. SAVAGE- Eleanor J. Rafferty,72, of Mt. Savage passed away on Monday, January 4, 2016 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born in Mt. Savage, Eleanor was the daughter of the late Theodore B. Porter and Ida Mae (Lashbaugh) Porter. She is preceded in death by her husband John Edward Rafferty, Jr., brother Theodore "Buck" Porter, sister Thelma Fazenbaker, niece Ronda Porter, and nephew Dale Layton. Eleanor had worked in Home Healthcare and Jane's Store in Mt. Savage. She was a former member of the Frostburg Eagles and Frostburg Moose. Eleanor was an avid baseball fan, unbelievable baker, and loved to dance. She is survived by her son Doug Rafferty of Mt. Savage, nephew Ronald Fazenbaker who resided with her, a sister Ina Layton, and numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Thursday, January 7, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted following the visitation at 8 p.m. with Rev. George M. Harpold officiating. In accordance with Eleanor's wishes her body will be cremated.
