Eleanor Francis

Eleanor “Joan” Francis, 86, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Charter Senior Living, Columbia, MD. Born on April 27, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Lola (Kirk) Green. She was preceded in death by Joseph Unuchek Francis, her husband of 54 years, son Keith Francis, sister Beverly Hall, and brothers Ronald Green, Jack Green, and Ken Green

. Joan was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved family gatherings, supporting her six children and their activities at Mount Savage School, and socializing and participating in activities with friends and neighbors. She also enjoyed working at Kmart in LaVale.

She is survived by her children Helen Butler, Edward Francis and wife Laurie, Marie Jansen and husband Mark, Frederick Francis, and Diana C. Ross; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; beloved niece Robin Clark, and sisters Janice Johnson and Christa Vinci.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Friday, November 18, 2022, from 10 to 11 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 11 a.m. with Father Ed Hendricks as celebrant. She will be buried with her husband at the Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
