Edward Francis Tippen

Edward Francis Tippen, 83, of Frostburg Maryland went to be with our lord on April 8, 2025 surrounded by friends and family at UPMC Western Maryland.

Born June 26, 1941 in Frostburg, MD he was the son of the late George Joseph Tippen and Marguerite Youngerman Tippen Keating. He was preceded in death by his step father Charles Keating, brother Mike Keating, brother in law Larry Eaton, grandson Jason Tippen and nephew Charlie Keating.

Ed is Survived by wife, Sharon Ann Pryor Tippen, married 61 years and children Christina M. Segura (Sean), Paul C. Tippen (Debby), William M. Tippen (Cindy), Erik C. Tippen (Christina), Chris Leach and Ro Leach. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; Shannon, Justin, Jordan, Paul Jr, Arthur, Michael, Dustin, Bethany, Aiddan, Shauna, Zachery and 12 great-children with 2 more on the way as well as brother Kevin Keating (Rhonda), sister Mary Keating Eaton and sister in law Marge Keating and several nieces and nephews.

He served 4 years in the Air Force as a C133 mechanic followed by 6 years in the National Guard.  After leaving the Air Force he began working for the US Postal Service in 1965 holding numerous positions from carrier to Frostburg Postmaster over his career until retiring in 1992.He was a member of Saint Michaels Catholic Church in Frostburg where he would assist as a Eucharistic Minister. In his later years he attended Eckhart United Methodist Church with his wife. He had a passion for model trains and was one of the founding members of the Community Model Railroad Club in Frostburg. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1442 and American Legion Post 24.

There will be graveside service held at the Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery.
