Edward William Taylor Sr. died Monday evening Sept. 11, 2023 at his home, 700 Braddock Ave. LaVale, Md. under family and hospice care. He was preceded in death by his father Edward R. Taylor, his mother Thelma K. (Miller) Roberts and stepfather Edward E. Roberts.
He is survived by his wife Christina A. (Malamphy) Taylor and were married June 3, 1961 at Our Lady of Lourdes Holy Roman Catholic Church, Baltimore, Md. Edward W. Taylor Jr. of Cumberland, Md., Theresa A. (Taylor) Graham and husband Robert of Christiansburg, Va., William M. Taylor of Cumberland, Md., Michael J. Taylor and wife Jessica of Springfield, VT., and Shawn P. Taylor of Frostburg, Md. Grandchildren, John J. Dignan Jr., Leland E. Taylor, Simon R.D. Taylor, Liam Taylor, Kaleb Taylor, Avery Taylor, Ryliegh Taylor, and Ryder Taylor, and four great grandchildren.
Mr. Taylor was a member of St. Patrick Holy Roman Catholic Church, Cumberland, Md. He was a charter member of the Cumberland Historic Cemetery Organization, Son's of Confederate Veterans McNeills Rangers Camp #582 and the National Rifle Association. He was retired from his business, Taylor Delivery Service Inc.
Mr. Taylor was a descendant of American Revolutionary War Patriot Daniel Taylor and Confederate States of America War Veteran Enoch C. Reinhart both buried in Mineral Co. W.Va. He loved and promoted the true history and heritage of the United States of America as a member of the Cumberland Historic Cemetery Organization. He was a great Pro-life supporter and saw abortion for what it is, pure murder of infants. He loved and supported the only great American Patriot that can save America, Donald J. Trump! Mr. Taylor was so proud of the 62 years he was married through the Holy Sacrament of Matrimony to his wonderful wife, Christina, and saw the evils of divorce for what it is mortal sin.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sowers Funeral Home Frostburg, Md. Funeral services will be held at the Sowers Funeral Home on Friday at 9 a.m. Funeral will consist of the following: The Holy Rosary will be prayed and lead by Cumberland Historic Cemetery Organization Rosarian Brett Dimaio, CHCO Chaplain the Rev. and Pastor Michael Mudge will conduct a prayer service followed by a prayer service from the Son's of Confederate Veterans lead by Commander David Judy. After services at the funeral home a Mass will be held at St. Patrick Holy Roman Catholic Church in Cumberland at 11 a.m. with Father Mark Carter as Celebrant. Burial will be in the Taylor family lot located next to the Shrine of the Pieta, SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Cumberland.
Pallbearers will be members of the Cumberland Historic Cemetery Organization James Ali, Pastor Michael Mudge. Allegany Co. Comm. President David Caporale, Members of Son's of Confederate Veterans McNeills Rangers and Maryland Senator Michael McKay as honorary pallbearer. CHCO wreath bearer Brett Dimaio. Flag bearers CHCO members Chester Dale Burgess, Mark Jones, and David Burcaw. Three-gun salute at gravesite will be provided by Son's of Confederate Veterans McNeills Rangers.
