Donna Bittner

Donna Jean Bittner, of Frostburg, passed away peacefully at UPMC Western Maryland on December 25, 2021.  Donna was born in Frostburg on August 30,1937 and was the daughter of Nevin and Frances (Twigg) Bittner.  She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Nevin Bittner.

Donna is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Karl Emory Bittner, son Mark Bittner and wife Debbie; son Dwayne Bittner and wife Pam; daughter Lori Miller and husband Jim.  She also leaves behind grandchildren Sarah O’Neal and husband John, Jeremy Bittner, Tyler Miller and wife Erika, Kelsey Malone and husband Cody, Kendra Miller and great-grandchildren Henson Kai Miller and Baby Boy Malone due in February.  Many knew and referred to her as Goob or Gibble, titles her grandchildren lovingly gave to her.

Donna was a graduate of Beall High School and Catherman’s Business School.  She was a homemaker.  She was a lifetime member of Salem United Church of Christ, member of Mt. Chapter of the Eastern Star, and member of Frostburg Women of the Moose.

Donna enjoyed spending time with family, baking, ceramics, gardening and loved animals. She enjoyed travel with family, Disney being one of her favorites.  She also enjoyed trips and events with her Shrine family, especially her dear friends of the Mounted Patrol.  She especially loved decorating for holidays, Christmas was her favorite. It is ironic she was called home to spend her first moments in heaven on the day of Jesus birth.

The family would like to thank the staff of Egle Nursing and Rehab for the care she received the last several months and the PCU unit at UPMC Western Maryland for their kindness and compassion.

Family and friends will be received at Sowers Funeral Home, 60 W Main Street, Frostburg Maryland Tuesday December 28 from 6:00-9:00 pm.  An Eastern Star service will be conducted at 7:00 pm.

Funeral service will be Wednedsay December 29 at 11:00 at the funeral home. Due to Covid regulations, masks are required. Officiants will be Rev. Diane Smith and Rev. Dwayne Hay.

Internment will be at Frostburg Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Miller, Jim Miller, Jeremy Bittner, John O’Neal, Cody Malone and Bill Hunt.
