Carol Ann Werner, 78, of Frostburg, joined her husband in heaven on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, after a long and courageous fight with Alzheimer’s.
Born March 2, 1946, the daughter of the late Earl and Dorothy (Felton) Meyers. She was also preceded in death by brother Glenn Meyers.
Carol was a graduate of Meyersdale Area High School. After graduation, Carol worked at a diner, where she met her beloved husband, Ronald. Carol went on to work as a proofreader for the New Republic Newspaper and later was employed at the former Dean’s Jewelry Store in Frostburg, Maryland. Carol would later go on to retire from Rest Assured Living Center after working in the dietary department and serving as the activity’s coordinator at Rest Assured Living Center. Carol loved her family, loved life, and adored her late husband, Ronald.
Carol never knew a stranger and faithfully sent greeting cards to everyone she knew, to just let them know they were loved. Carol and her late husband Ronald were inseparable, going everywhere and doing everything together.
Carol was the proud mother of beloved sons, Todd Werner and Michael Werner and his wife Ida (Faidley), and her one and only beloved grandson, Matthew Werner, all from Frostburg, MD.
Carol instilled love, courage and strength in all those whose lives she touched, often telling her son Todd during his college years, “don’t stop learning, you got this.”
Carol is survived by sister Sandra Henry and brother Butch Meyers and wife Hope, brother in laws Wayne Werner and Larry Werner and wife Mary, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Carol enjoyed flower arranging and sending “thinking of you” notes and greeting cards to everyone she knew. Carol cherished life, and even in the most difficult moments of her battle with Alzheimer’s, she never gave up and always made sure to say, “thank you and love you” to all she interacted with. Carol was the true definition of a beloved mother.
Friends and family will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday at the Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday with Pastor Joseph Saweikis officiating.
Interment will follow at Finzel Cemetery, Frostburg, MD.
The family would like to thank UPMC Western Maryland and Peace Healthcare for showing Carol compassion and understanding during her fight with Alzheimer’s.
