Brian Shafer

FROSTBURG- Brian Dudley Shafer, 62, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at his home. Born February 4, 1958 in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Dudley Alexander Shafer and Dorothy Lorraine (Oberholtzer). Also preceded in death by an aunt, Dorothy Norris and husband Adolf. Brian was retired from the railroad. He was a member of the Trinity Assembly of God. He was a member of the Classy Chassis Car Club, Cresaptown Eagles, Christian Motorcycle Association and he volunteered with 4H for many years. Brian served his country in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Roberta Shafer, son Brian Shafer, Jr., Baltimore; daughters Tiffany Ryan and husband Zach, Frostburg; Jolene Shafer, Frostburg; grandchildren, Fiona Ryan and Gavin Ryan, sister, Terre Tribut, Cumberland; and nephews, Jason Loar and Justin Loar. Visitation will be held at Sowers Funeral Home on Monday July 20, 2020 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with funeral services at 1 p.m. with Pastor Rob Culler officiating. Interment will be in Maryland State Cemetery at Rocky Gap. American Legion Farrady Post 24 will accord military honors. The family wishes to thank Western Maryland Hospice for all their excellent care. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice.
