Betty Layton

RAWLINGS- Betty Lou Layton, 81, of Frederick, formerly of Rawlings, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the Glade Valley Nursing Home. Born in Cumberland on March 21, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Pete Ziler and Priscilla (Wilson) Ziler. She is preceded in death by her husband Howard “Charlie” Layton and numerous brothers and sisters. She worked as a cook at the Department of Juvenile Services. Betty Lou is survived by her daughters, Gayle Coley and husband Jay of Frederick; Rita Haberlein of Keyser; Patty Winters and husband Fred of Barton; grandchildren, Charles Coley, Melissa Haberlein, Meriah Haberlein, Tenille Winters, and Aaron Winters, Great-granddaughter Isabella Robosson. Also, surviving is brother Howard Ziler of Cumberland; and sister Velma Bane and husband Richard of Cumberland. Family and friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating. Inurnment will be in Layton Family Cemetery.
