Barbara graduated from Central High School in Lonaconing in 1952 and was a cheerleader and an excellent student. After graduating from High School, she worked for an attorney in Cumberland. She subsequently was employed by the Potomac Edison Company in Lonaconing, Frostburg, and Cumberland. Barbara always spoke highly of Lonaconing, including Central High School and the First Presbyterian Church. She loved attending all her High School annual reunions from their beginnings until they ended not too many years ago. Throughout her adult life, she enjoyed bowling and tennis. She was greatly loved by all that knew her.
After leaving the Cumberland area in 1971 with her husband, Barbara enjoyed living in the Baltimore area, New Jersey, Maryland (near Washington D.C.), and then moved to Winchester, Virginia in 2001.
One of her nieces, Cris (McGreevy) Fazenbaker, formerly from Frostburg and now in Winchester, provided significant help to Barbara and Jim in Barbara's good health years, in her move to assisted living, and in post-death support. She continues to reach out to Jim Hunt to comfort him. Althea Mundeno of Lavale, Maryland, originally from Lonaconing, was a long-time friend of Barbara's. She stayed in touch with Barbara over the years and also gave much needed emotional support to Jim Hunt following Barbara's death.
Barbara is buried in Frostburg Memorial Park. A casual dress memorial service will be held in the Presbyterian Church in Lonaconing on May 31, 2025 at 11:00 AM.
